A BLUE pool does not always equal a SAFE pool!
Many will dump high levels of chlorine into a pool, making it blue and giving you a false sense of “good” pool chemistry, but there are dangers to this:
- It can cause moderate to severe eye infection, burning in nasal passages and rashes on skin.
- Lung irritation from breathing high levels of chlorine fumes can aggravate asthma.
Chlorine is NOT a solve-all. Too much is NOT a good thing!
Many will dump high levels of chlorine into a swimming pool, but here is what can happen:
- Low PH (high acidity) results from too much chlorine in your swimming pool and needs to be corrected or it will cause equipment to corrode and will cause metal oxides to stain swimming pool surfaces.
- High acidity from too high of a chlorine level will eat away the calcium found in your swimming pool’s plaster and cause pitting in your plaster.
Chlorine is not the only chemical needed to keep your swimming pool safe and healthy for swimming. Don’t be fooled by a “blue pool” !
